Trans-Solar Federation
Introduction
The Trans-Solar Federation is a government formed from the fallout of Earth. When most countries collapsed and hope to travel the stars was nearly extinguished, they rose and united humanity under that vision once more, through force and conquest. Still, under the TSF humanity managed to finally break from the confinement of their solar system and into the wider galaxy. For better or worse.
History
Founded in the aftermath of the Second Great Space Race and the Eastern Seas War, when the world was shattered and the idea of globalization was nearly a corpse. Through technological and military superiority, the remaining nations of the world were unified, and the Trans-Solar Federation set its sights on the galaxy at large. While barely able to maintain colonies in their local star system at this point, they wore their ambitions proudly in their name, and indeed they eventually lived up to that name.
In the 22nd century, the Trans-Solar Federation made contact with extraterrestrial life for the first time, and made their first ally of the Skrellian Central Authority. Fifty years later this alliance would drag the TSF into their first real war, aiding their Skrell allies against the Kidan. This war lasted from 2155 to 2160, ending in the total devastation of the Kidan homeworld of Aurum.
The following centuries saw a great deal of expansion, as the Trans-Solar Federation met more and more space-faring peoples and governments. Some became allies, others became member-states, and the TSF could finally say that it lived up to the second half of its name.
Despite setbacks, unexpected discoveries, and a literally endless amount of trouble from the Megacorporations and foreign parties alike, the Trans-Solar Federation has persisted into the modern 26th century, only slightly worse for wear. It's largest rivals are familiar to it; The Skrellian Central Authority with whom they have a mostly friendly rivalry, and The Union of Soviet Socialist Planets that violently splintered off from the Trans-Solar Federation to forge a new more communist state.

Government Organization
The Trans-Solar Federation is a large and somewhat unwieldy thing. Even aided by FTL travel utilizing RGBspace, physical travel and the transfer of information is still far from instant, necessitating a degree of decentralization. This decentralization often comes from the individual pieces of the Trans-Solar Federation however, with oversight from the top still being an integral part of how the government functions. Great autonomy is given to the lower levels of each piece, leading to more flexibility and rapid responses, and corruption.

Executive Branch
President of the Trans-Solar Federation: The President is the executive leader of the Trans-Solar Federation. They are elected for 8 year terms and may serve up to 3 terms, however they may not serve their terms back-to-back.
Vice President of the Trans-Solar Federation: The Vice President is always whoever came in second during the Presidential Election, is elected for 8 year terms, and may serve any number of terms with no restrictions.
The Cabinet of Ministers: Composed of the chosen Ministers of every major Ministry, appointed from amongst themselves with final approval of the President.
High Council of Sol: Membership of the High Council of Sol is very exclusive, and usually reserved for extremely prominent powers due to the fact that their appointment can be challenged by the Senate, the President, and the Highest Court of Judiciaries. This has kept the Council lean and restricted, with members almost never departing alive. They hold authority over the Sol System- the heart of the TSF, and act as the head of the TSF should the President fall or be found incapable. In times of war, they are often elevated to a War Council under the President, and it is uncommon for the Minister of Defense or the Chief Admiral of the Trans-Solar Navy to not hold a seat on the High Council. In times past, a representative from the Skrellian Central Authority would also hold a seat on the High Council, but that practice has long since fallen out of favor.
Legislative Branch
The Solar Senate: Vested with authority to approve law and bills. Senators are elected to their position, with every Sector of TSF space having 3 Senators. The Head of the Senate is always the Vice-President.
The House of Federal Affairs: A house of Representatives filled only by elected Federal Representatives of every Trans-Solar Federation world. They are vested with the authority to draft, write, and submit laws and bills to the Solar Senate. They give voice to those who are actual citizens of the TSF.
The Cabinet of Representatives: A house of Representatives filled by chosen Cabinet Representatives of every Trans-Solar Federation ally or vassal state. This includes some elevated Corporate Representatives. They act as advisors to the House of Federal Affairs and may elect 3 Speakers to represent themselves in the House at their discretion. They give voice to those who are allied with or are greatly invested in the TSF.
Judicial Branch
His Highness, The Regislator: 'His Highness, The Regislator' is the designation given to an advanced, very old, and very eccentric Artificial Intelligence. While not formally holding any real power within the TSF's Judicial Branch, it is recognized for the sake of its vast ego and for ceremonial reasons. His Highness has access to every single court case, law, verdict, acquittal, everything that has ever happened under the TSF's Judicial oversight. He can search this vast quantity of information and find everything relevant to any case in order to establish precedent on a matter. He can be requested to do this by any Judge or Lawyer of significant position within the TSF. Handling cases on a galactic scale requires a galactic solution. While His Highness is bound by laws of truth, legality, and morality, it is also very old and has developed an eccentric and ego-driven personality. Despite this it has never shown detectable bias in it's over 300 years of service.
The Highest Court of Judiciaries: Composed of one hundred of senior judges elected from the High Court of Law by either the Solar Senate or the High Council of Sol, with final approval from the existing seated members. They have final say on legal issues that reach their level, and interpretation of all laws, treaties, agreements, and constitutions at the Federation level.
The High Court of Law: One step under the Highest Court of Judiciaries, with one thousand members elevated from renowned judges across the Trans-Solar Federation by an internal election- only the House of Federal Affairs can veto someone from joining the High Court of Law.
The Court of Legal Appeals: A standard, but very vast, appeals court.
The Core Courts: The courts that oversee the Core of the TSF.
The Sector Courts: The courts that oversee specific Sectors of the TSF.
Law Enforcement
While technically it's own organization under the Ministry of Justice, functionally the Law Enforcement of the Trans-Solar Federation is beholden to and closely tied with the Judicial Branch. Due to the decentralization of the TSF, the Sector Courts often pass down decrees to Law Enforcement on a sector-level.
The Trans-Solar Police Department: The TSPD is a vast policing department charged with enforcing Space Law on the TSF's territory. While different sectors may have their own unique amendments to Space Law, and some vassal states and member states may have their own completely unique laws, Space Law is the overarching Federal Law that applies mostly equally in the TSF's territory. The galaxy is very large however, and the TSPD can usually only directly enforce Space Law in less than half of it effectively. Many sectors have Response Forces that are used exclusively to respond to incidents in areas where the TSPD can not maintain an active and constant presence. Other solutions exist to this problem in other regions however.
Legal Liaison Offices: LLO's are departments under the TSPD that handle coordination between the TSPD and the Local Law Enforcement services of different Sectors, member states, vassal states, and even allies of the TSF. This includes sharing information on crimes and criminals, evidence of criminal activity and crimes, and handling extradition of criminals into or out of the TSF as needed.
Local Law Enforcement: Law enforcement on a local level, often on the surface of planets that maintain some degree of autonomy and independence from the TSF like member states, or regions that maintain this independence in law enforcement through treaties and agreements that were forged when they joined the TSF originally.
Corporate Enforcement: Handles law enforcement in corporate owned space and on corporate owned colonies. While technically within the jurisdiction of the TSF and the TSPD, they stand one step removed from the legal system. They enforce Space Law on corporate factory and mining colonies mostly, and are renowned for corruption and abuse of power. Unfortunately the TSPD lacks the resources to do more than oversight of them, and usually only steps in when something egregious happens- if they even learn of it at all.
Private Security: Paid private security who are technically part of Corporate Enforcement but are even more removed from the legal system. They enforce an abridged version of Space Law, called Corporate Law, on private property owned by Corporations such as Space Stations. Corporate Law is dictated by negotiations between Corporations and the Legal Liaison Offices to find a middle ground between enforcing ALL of Space Law, and what is actually reasonable for Private Security to be able to handle enforcing. Meaning it is often dumbed down and simplified. All reports and paperwork eventually make their way up the chain to Corporate Enforcement and the TSPD for tiers of review- in theory anyway.
