1. Damage to the Bridge, Evac, Arrivals, and Secure Areas should be prioritized for repairs. Following these areas is the Medical and Security departments.

2. Should repairs be required with no appropriate personnel around, engineering personnel may hack doors to repair the area. These doors must be returned to their original condition once repairs are complete.
All Members of the Engineering Department are surmised here under the term Engineer

3. Should no station damage be present, Engineers may take on solo projects, reconstructions, or shuttle building.
* Damages on the Bridge and Evac are to be treated as high priority, followed by Medical and Security.

4. Security should be contacted to establish a perimeter around especially damaged areas of the station.
* Engineers are permitted to hack doors to gain unauthorized access to locations if said locations happen to require urgent repairs

* Engineers are permitted to carry out solo reconstruction/rebuilding/personal projects if there is no damage to the station that requires fixing

* The station safety and appearance can be improved by installing additional lights. While Janitorial replaces broken lightbulbs, Engineering can quickly install a whole wall socket including bulb with the RCD tool

3. The Chief Engineer must ensure that the atmospheric distribution and waste networks are set up properly and turned on at the start of shift.

4. The Chief Engineer is responsible for the operation and integrity of all station engines. Catastrophic engine failure will be considered grounds for immediate dismissal.

5. The Chief Engineer is responsible for the maintenance of the Station's Atmospherics System. Catastrophic failure of these systems will be considered grounds for immediate dismissal.

6. Should an area of the station become too damaged to repair fully, the Chief Engineer may declare the area condemned, and prohibit access to the area permanently.

7. The Chief Engineer is solely responsible for distributing building permits to station crew. Those found building without a permit shall be found guilty of Vandalism or Damage of Property.

1. Atmospheric Technicians report directly to the Chief Engineer.

2. Atmospheric Technicians must set up the distribution and waste gas systems before moving onto other matters. Failure to do so will be considered grounds for immediate dismissal.
* The TA shall be aware of the additional duties of being an engineer. As TAs often have been mere passengers in the past, they are used of free roaming. Now they are under the oversight of the engineering department

3. Atmospheric Technicians should prioritize atmospheric emergencies over station integrity. Atmospheric technicians may assist engineering in their duties if no atmospheric emergencies are present.
* TAs must remain with a Station Engineer or Atmospheric Technician at all times

4. Atmospheric Technicians may not retrieve the axe from its case unless their life is under threat, or entry to a crisis location is required.
* TAs may work alone in deploying solar panels if they are properly trained

5. Atmospheric Technicians are permitted to assist in the creation of specialized areas for non-human crew members with special atmospheric requirements.
* TAs may not remodel, rebuild or move major station components without engineer supervision

6. Atmospheric Technicians must check on the TEG, Supermatter, and atmospheric alerts console every 30 minutes or less.
* TAs are recommended to tell the department at every shift about their current training status. This includes their knowledge of being on a Space Station but also regarding their knowledge in engineering. This helps to train the TA better but also protects the TA from harsh treatment

7. Any mention of "independence" or "Atmosia" shall be grounds for immediate contract termination.

Starlight Engineering SOP

The responsibilities of the Engineering Department includes:

  • Power generation
  • Atmospherics control
  • Repair station damage
  • Additional constructions

Initial Setup

The start of the shift is the main time for engineering to shine as multiple things have to be done at the same time which are station critical, which are Power Generation and Atmospherics Control.

Power Generation

  1. AME shall set up first, sometimes even before gearing up
  2. After AME setup, either a Singularity or Tesla can be built, depending on the station layout
  3. Turning off AME

Atmospherics Control

  1. Main air supply generation as primary responsibility
  2. Air exhaust/waste should be set up afterwards, filtered or unfiltered

General Engineering

All Members of the Engineering Department are surmised here under the term Engineer

  • Damages on the Bridge and Evac are to be treated as high priority, followed by Medical and Security.
  • Engineers are permitted to hack doors to gain unauthorized access to locations if said locations happen to require urgent repairs
  • Engineers are permitted to carry out solo reconstruction/rebuilding/personal projects if there is no damage to the station that requires fixing
  • The station safety and appearance can be improved by installing additional lights. While Janitorial replaces broken lightbulbs, Engineering can quickly install a whole wall socket including bulb with the RCD tool

Roles

The roles are in a hierarchical order, from top to bottom:

  1. Chief Engineer
  2. Atmospheric Technician
  3. Station Engineer
  4. Technical Assistant

Atmospheric Technicians include the duties of a Station Engineer. But in case there is atmospheric work to be done, their specialization has priority

Technical Assistant

The Technical Assistant, in the following abbreviated as TA, is the Assistant role equivalent of the Engineering Department

  • The TAs primary responsibility is to learn
  • The TA shall be aware of the additional duties of being an engineer. As TAs often have been mere passengers in the past, they are used of free roaming. Now they are under the oversight of the engineering department
  • TAs must remain with a Station Engineer or Atmospheric Technician at all times
  • TAs may work alone in deploying solar panels if they are properly trained
  • TAs may not remodel, rebuild or move major station components without engineer supervision
  • TAs are recommended to tell the department at every shift about their current training status. This includes their knowledge of being on a Space Station but also regarding their knowledge in engineering. This helps to train the TA better but also protects the TA from harsh treatment

Station Engineer

The Station Engineer, in the following abbreviated as Engineer, is the general role of the Engineering Department

  • Engineers must properly activate and wire the AME at the start of the shift, before any other actions are undertaken
  • Engineers handle the initial power setup of Singularity or Tesla and are advised to ask the CE for their preference
  • One Engineer should be at the Engineering front desk at all times. It is also advised that this person is supervising the monitors of engineering and handles status updated for the engineering departments

Atmospheric Technician

The Atmospheric Technician, in the following abbreviated as Atmos, is the specialized role of the Engineering Department

  • An Atmos must properly set up before these doing anything else:
  1. the air distribution network and
  2. the air exhaust/waste
  • Atmos should build a TEG or a SM if reasonable possible on the station and within the capabilities of the Atmos

Chief Engineer

The Chief Engineer, in the following abbreviated as CE, is the command role of the Engineering Department

The Chief Engineer handles the initial setup of power generation and air management

Depending on the performance of his staff, they can choose different approaches:

  • They can instruct the team from the bridge, monitoring the team via the console
  • They can supervise the setup in person
  • They can work together with their team to ensure a correct setup
  • They have to do the tasks by themselves

The CE as a commander, is advised to guide their team verbally. In case the team cannot perform the setup in a timely manner, the CE is recommended to solve the problems first hand

  • The Standard Command SOP applies
