notes:
- complicated life cycle. eggs hatch into face huggers, which latch onto other life forms to impregnate them. the larva will be born from the corpse of it's host and be very aggressive to everything around it, trying to consume anything it can including other xenos if not careful. adult xenos have to guide and care for the larva, and if done the larva will shed its appendages and its bloodlust will be lost. from there it grows into an intelligent adult. if not cared for and guided, it will not lose its appendages and will remain feral
- long ago the Xenos had an advanced civilization, they developed society, art, technology, etc. reproduction is so complicated that it was central to their culture and society. they had a domesticated form of lower life from their planet, now called drone cattle, that were used in ritualistic sacrifice to face huggers to propagate themselves. intelligent xenos made it off world at some point, and formed a galactic scale empire. after colonizing hundreds of worlds, a pathogen spread amongst the drone cattle which nearly drove them extinct. this disaster resulted in a reduction on larva being produced, and due to population decline many larva that did hatch weren't overseen by adults, becoming feral
- the empire rapidly collapsed, leading to dramatic population decline. the only survivors are the feral xenos, who live in pockets on hundreds of scattered moons and planets across the milky way. xenoborgs are the remnants of the xenos empires artificial intelligence, and continue to propagate seeing themselves as the xenos successors. they are revered by the feral xenos, but are distasteful of their fallen creators
- intelligent xenos may still exist in secret on the xenos homeworld, which was lost long ago.
