Overview
The Space Authority are a task force of several law-enforcement organizations of the Trans-Solar Federation, after the events of the pod wars the TSF found they were still under invasion from pirates, syndicates and illegal salvagers (fancy word for more pirates), to combat this they established an emergency task force named the "Galactic Crime Division" however this quickly fell apart due to corruption and lobbying. In its wake however The Bureau stepped up, formed out of veterans of law-enforcement and the pod wars they established a proper authority through force or careful political strikes and afterwards were dubbed the Space Authority.
After its formation The Bureau relegated themselves, standing in as the internal affairs and special investigations branch. The reasoning behind this while unclear, allowed the different organizations to operate independently and be able to work together effectively. This came just in time for the Diamond Port Attack, which could of ended catastrophically if it weren't for the brave efforts of the Space Authority and others who came to aid. Whether people believe modern days are better or worse than the old war-torn era, the officers and agents of the Space Authority continue to keep the peace and defend the people. For that is their solemn duty.
- "What are we some kind of space authority?" - quote from Bureau intern Jack West
Relationship to Nanotrasen
While testy at times, Nanotrasen being one of the bigger corporations gives them a good relationship with the TSF however the Space Authority find themselves at odds with them a few times, 40% of incidents are Nanotrasen related, with 10% being NUCLEAR incidents. In turn, Galactic Law is often broken which results in large fines, which the megacorporation shrugs off like its paperwork load. However, CentComm is often instructed by Nanotrasen to hide such violations to avoid further disruption.
Relationship to the Syndicate
At best the Syndicate are considered a terrorist organisation, and any person that declares themself a syndicate are arrested and tried under the Collective-Crimes act of 2438, it didn't get any better when the syndicate bombed Watchpost-13, also doesn't help they have a long list of crimes against the TSF, and would be rather seen dead than any other sort of compromise.
